Job Description: PSV Driver (A1 Minibus and Coach Services LTD)

 

We are seeking experienced and professional PSV Drivers to join our team at A1 Minibus and Coach Services LTD. As a PSV Driver, you will play a crucial role in providing safe and reliable transportation services to our clients, including school contracts, school private hires, weddings, tours, concerts and events, sporting events, and airport transfers. Your primary responsibility will be to operate our coaches in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies while delivering exceptional customer service.

 

Responsibilities:

 

1. Coach Operations:

• Safely operate PSV (Public Service Vehicle) coaches in accordance with traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the coach is in optimal condition and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Adhere to scheduled routes and timetables, ensuring punctuality and efficient service delivery.
• Maintain a clean and tidy coach interior, ensuring passenger comfort and safety.
• Familiarise yourself with the coach's features, such as air conditioning, wheelchair accessibility, and entertainment systems, and ensure they are functioning correctly.

Passenger Safety and Assistance:

• Provide excellent customer service, ensuring a pleasant and comfortable journey for passengers.
• Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including those with special needs or disabilities, training will be provided.
• Ensure passengers are aware of and adhere to safety regulations, such as wearing seat belts when required.
• Handle passenger enquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner, escalating issues to the appropriate personnel if necessary. 
• Maintain a calm and controlled environment onboard the coach, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere.

Compliance and Documentation:

• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including PSV licensing requirements and driver's hours regulations.
• Maintain accurate records, including driver logs, vehicle maintenance records, incident reports, and passenger counts.
• Adhere to company policies regarding health and safety, security, and confidentiality.

Vehicle Maintenance:

• Report any coach maintenance or repair needs promptly to the maintenance department.
• Carry out basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as fueling, cleaning, and checking fluid levels.
• Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure coaches are regularly serviced and repaired as needed.

Requirements:

• Valid PSV license with category D and an up-to-date CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
• Previous experience as a PSV driver, preferably in a coach operator or similar setting is prefferred.
• Excellent driving skills and a clean driving record.
• Strong knowledge of local traffic regulations and road safety.
• Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Physical fitness and ability to assist passengers with their luggage if necessary.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and electronic ticketing systems is a plus but not a necessity.

 

Hours of Work: 

16-35Hours of contract work Plus Private Hire are usual. 

Flexible working hours also available including weekend work
