10 Things No One Really Tells You About Wedding Transport

If you’re anything like most couples, transport is one of those things that sits quietly on the list… until it suddenly matters.

It’s easy to think, “we’ll just sort a bus” and tick it off.

But after 47 years in this industry, I can tell you — it’s one of those parts of the day that can either run in the background perfectly… or turn into a bit of a headache if it’s not thought through properly.

So here’s a few things that people don’t always realise when they’re booking wedding transport.

One of the biggest things is timing.

Weddings don’t run to the minute. They just don’t.
Photos take longer, people get chatting, things drift — and that’s part of the day.

Your transport needs to move with that, not against it. There’s no point having something booked that’s rigid and stressing you out because you’re 15 minutes behind.

Another one — it’s not just about getting from A to B.

It’s about keeping people together, making sure guests arrive when they should, and taking away that worry of “how’s everyone getting there?”

You’d be surprised how quickly it can get messy when everyone’s relying on their own cars, taxis, lifts… especially if venues are a bit out the way.

Drivers play a bigger role than people expect as well.

A good driver isn’t just there to drive. They’re watching timings, helping guests, making sure everything runs smoothly in the background.

When it’s done right, you barely notice it — and that’s exactly how it should be.

Cost is probably the biggest misunderstanding.

From the outside, it can look like a short job — a couple of runs and that’s it.

But what you don’t see is everything behind it.

Driver wages, fuel, vehicle costs, insurance, maintenance… it all adds up. And more than that, it’s the planning and flexibility that sits around your booking.

You’re not just paying for a journey — you’re paying for everything to run properly on the day.

There’s also a lot of prep that happens before you even see the vehicle.

Vehicles are cleaned, checked, planned into the day. Routes are looked at, timings worked out, access checked.

It’s all the quiet stuff in the background that means things go the way they should.

And routes… they matter more than people think.

Especially with some of the venues we go to. Narrow roads, awkward access, limited parking — it all needs thought.

It’s not just “stick it in the sat nav and go”.

The biggest thing transport does, though, is remove stress.

Without it, you can end up with people late, lost, or messaging you on your wedding day asking where they’re meant to be.

With it, everyone arrives together, on time, and you don’t need to think about it.

That’s the real value.

It also keeps the atmosphere going.

Guests travelling together, chatting, laughing — it becomes part of the day without you even planning it that way.

And when it comes to price… it’s not really about finding the cheapest option.

It’s about knowing it’s going to turn up, do what it needs to do, and not cause you any issues on the day.

That peace of mind is worth more than anything.

If there’s one thing I’d say, it’s this —

You’re not just booking a vehicle.

You’re booking experience, planning, and someone making sure one part of your day just… works.
