Edinburgh Castle – Home of Scottish kings and queens from past centuries, Edinburgh is high above the city on its perch of volcanic rock. This Castle is the most famous of castles dominating the World Heritage listed Old and New Towns of Edinburgh. Views from the Castle gives stunning scenic views of the city and countryside. St. Margarets Chapel, Mons Meg siege cannon, the Great Hall, the magnificently restored Laich Hall and the Scottish National War Memorial are here together with the highly acclaimed “Honours of the Kingdom” exhibition which traces the history of Scotland’s Crown Jewels and culminates in a visit to the Crown Room housing the Scottish Regalia and the Stone of Destiny. A series of performances known as the Edinburgh Military Tattoo take place on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade each year during August. The basis of the performance is a parade of the pipes and drums of the Scottish regiments. The climax of the evening is the lone piper on the castle battlements, playing a pibroch in memory of dead comrades in arms, followed by the massed pipe bands joining in a medley of traditional Scottish tunes.

Stirling Castle - From the earliest times the rugged security of Stirling Rock must have attracted settlers as a place of refuge and point of vantage but there is no trace of prehistoric fortifications. Peat-bogs, succeeding the forest lands, surrounded the rock and accentuated its isolation. The scene changed with the centuries, however, for the mosses were transformed into fertile plains while upon the impregnable crag was set a structure which became a residence and refuge for kings, a prison for recalcitrant subjects and a storehouse for munitions. Of vital strategic importance, the fortress changed hands more often than any other Scottish castle, and one of the decisive battles of Scottish history was fought for the possession of it on the field of Bannockburn.

East Neuk of Fife - The East Neuk, or corner, is one of the main attractions of Fife. It is a stretch of coastline dotted with a series of delightful fishing villages, each clustered around its harbour. The villages are a joy to discover with their wealth of vernacular architecture. As early as the 11th Century Fife was the very hub of the Scottish nation, with Dunfermline as the political and St Andrews as the ecclesiastical centres. The villages flourished as active trading ports with the Hanseatic League and the Low Countries. King James VI described Fife as “a beggar’s mantle with a fringe of gold”. It was the royal burghs along the coast, with their profitable activities of trading, fishing and smuggling, which were the “fringe of gold”. With the development of the trans-Atlantic routes, the villages concentrated on fishing. Leven, Methil, Buckhaven and Kennoway are also areas we provide service to.
